CORVALLIS – Seattle U baseball fell to Oregon State, 3-8, Wednesday night in Corvallis. The Redhawks were able to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but five runs in the next two innings for Oregon State proved to be the difference.

CORVALLIS – Seattle U baseball fell to Oregon State, 3-8, Wednesday night in Corvallis. The Redhawks were able to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but five runs in the next two innings for Oregon State proved to be the difference.
 
The Beavers took the lead in the ballgame when they scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Outside of rough second inning, the Redhawks pitching staff would only allow two hits over the first six innings.
 
Seattle U would rally back into the game with a big seventh inning performance. After a Matt Boissoneault single, Grant Heiser would hit a double to left field, bringing home Boissoneault for the Redhawks first run of the game. Jackson Reed would keep it going when he beat out an infield single which was followed by an RBI double by Julian Kodama that just stayed fair down the third base line. Derek Gerard picked up the final RBI of the inning as he grounded out to the shortstop, allowing for Reed to score from third. The Beavers and Redhawks were tied at three.
 
Oregon State quickly recaptured the lead in the bottom half of the frame when three runs crossed home. The home team would add two more in the following inning to eventually capture the 8-3 victory.
 
In their first matchup with a ranked opponent this season, the Redhawks ended the night with three runs on six hits while stranding five. The pitching staff combined to give up nine hits, eight runs with only five earned while walking seven and striking out eleven.
 
The Redhawks return to conference play this weekend when they host Dixie State starting Friday, March 25 at Bannerwood Park. Seattle U is currently 4-2 inside of WAC play and sitting in third in the west division standings. First pitch between the Redhawks and Trailblazers is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Friday.
