SEATTLE – Seattle University baseball head coach Donny Harrel announced Wednesday the signing of Brandon Jenkins, a right-handed pitcher out of Central Arizona College. Jenkins will join the Redhawks in the fall of 2019 and officially compete in the spring of 2020 as a junior.

"Brandon will be a difference maker," said Harrel. "Not only does he bring electric stuff to the mound, but his maturity level and work effort will help continually develop our young pitchers in the program."

Hailing originally from Sterling High School in New Jersey, Jenkis was ranked as the No. 3 right-handed pitcher in New Jersey and No. 40 in the country by Prep Baseball Report. He was 18-4 during his prep career, including 6-1 as a senior.

Out of high school, Jenkins went on to play for Campbell University, appearing 14 times with 10 starts on the mound as a rookie. He went 3-1 with a 4.35 ERA over 49.2 innings, racking up 65 strikeouts.

Most recently at Central Arizona, Jenkins has pitched primarily out of the bullpen, making 15 total appearances. He has helped the Vaqueros to a 45-19 record to date. CAC is currently riding a five game win streak and has advanced to the 2019 Alpine Bank JUCO World Series, which begins May 25 in Grand Junction, Colo.

"Brandon is a great addition to our pitching staff," said Pitching Coach Greg Goetz. "He has the ability to not only start games, but get quality out in the backend of the bullpen. He has one of the best arms on the West Coast with the ability to run his fastball into the upper 90's. His maturity and commitment to academics will allow him to be successful on and off the field."

Jenkins joins LHP Peter Chronowski, LHP Alex McBee, LHP Luke Tedrick, SS/RHP Mason Hoover, RHP Kohl Petersen as members of the Redhawks' 2019 recruiting class.
