SEATTLE – (May 10) Seattle U baseball hits the road for the final time this regular season, traveling to face Western Athletic Conference rival Utah Valley in a three-game set. Action begins Friday with a 6 p.m. Mountain/5 p.m. Pacific first pitch at UCCU Ballpark. The teams will continue play on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT and conclude Sunday with a 12 p.m. MT/11 a.m. PT start. The Redhawks enter the series with a 30-17 overall record and 11-7 WAC mark, good for fourth place in the league standings. The Wolverines sit in eighth place at 5-13 and are 14-31 overall.

  • The Redhawks earned their 30th win of the season on May 5 at Sacramento State, marking the third 30-win season during the nine years since the program was resurected in 2010. The program record for withs in 37, set in 2016. The 2015 Redhawks won 31 games.
  • Freshman Justin Mazzone has collected two or more hits in three of the last four games and is back to leading the Redhawks with  his .390 batting average.
  • Sean Sutton is batting .340 with 53 hits, including nine doubles and five home runs, and leads the team with 43 RBIs.
  • Dalton Hurd is batting .330 batting with a team-high 59 hits, including 14 doubles, one triple and seven homers. He also ranks second on the team with 40 RBIs.
  • The Redhawks have 123 total extra-base hits on the year, including 81 doubles, 13 triples and 29 home runs. Dalton Hurd has seven of those homers while Sean Sutton has five, Lucas Denney has four and Curtis Perrin has three. All told, 10 Redhawks have hit at least one home run.
  • Tarik Skubal is 6-1 with a 4.06 ERA. The junior lefty has 81 strikeouts in 62 innings while also holding opponents to a .198 batting average, which leads the WAC.
  • Jake Prizina is 6-0, to go along with one save and a 3.83 ERA in 12 starts and 16 total appearances. The junior lefty has 77 strikeouts while his 14 walks allowed in 80.0 innings ranks third in the WAC.
  • Closer Zach Wolf also continues to dominate. At 4-0 with eight saves and a 3.03 ERA in 23 appearances, Wolf has fanned 45 batters in 32.2 innings. He holds opponents to a .184 average.
  • A 4-3 come-from-behind win over Washington State on April 25 gave the Redhawks a win over each of the other Division I Washington universities – Wazzu, Washington and Gonzaga – this season.
  • Sophomore Austin Lively had a season-long, 34-game on-base streak snapped on Apr. 27 versus CSU Bakersfield.
  • Dalton Hurd was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of April 9-14. He led the Redhawks to a 5-0 week as he became the Redhawks' all-time hits and runs scored leader.
  • Chase Wells was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1. He collected eight hits, including a triple and a home run, on his way to batting .615 in a three-game series at Chicago State.
  • Dalton Hurd hit his fourth home run of the season on Mar. 24 at New Mexico State, giving him 16 for his career, which makes him the Redhawks' career leader. He passed Josh Kalalau, who hit 15 home runs from 2010-11.
  • Zach Wolf was named WAC Pitcher of the Week on March 19. He picked up a trio of saves as the Redhawks went 3-0 against Pacific Northwest opponents.
  • The Redhawks were selected fourth in the WAC preseason poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. New Mexico State was selected to finish second, and earned a pair of first-place votes.
