After winning the first two games of the series, Seattle University baseball (28-15, 15-3 WAC) completed the series sweep with a 6-4 victory vs. UTRGV (18-21, 7-8 WAC). With the win, the Redhawks earned their third Western Athletic Conference series sweep and sixth straight series win. On a four-game WAC winning streak, Seattle U currently has a two-game lead in league standings.

Seattle U scored all six runs in the first and second innings, three in each frame. Sheldon Stober (Kent, Wash.) drove in the first before Jeffrey Morgan (Auburn, Wash.) drove in two with a single to left field. In the second, Dalton Hurd (Bend, Ore.) hit a two-RBI home run before Morgan walked home a run later in the inning.

The Vaqueros took an early 1-0 lead but the Redhawks responded, leading 6-1 after two innings. UTRGV scored two in the seventh and one more in the eighth to pull within three, but it would be as close as they would come.

Sean Sutton (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) led the Redhawks at the plate (3-for-5) while Morgan tallied a team-high three RBIs.

Janson Junk (Federal Way, Wash.) picked up the win on the mound to improve to 4-3 on the season while Connor Moore (West Richland, Wash.) earned his third save of the season.

Seattle U heads to Oregon State on Tuesday, May 3 for a single non-conference contest before traveling to NM State over the weekend for an important WAC series. The Redhawks return home to host Washington State on Wednesday, May 11 at 12 noon before their final home series vs. Northern Colorado (May 13-15).
