DENVER – Nkosi Burgess of Seattle University men’s soccer has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Nov. 3. Burgess, a center back, helped SU log two road shutouts over the weekend.

Burgess, a graduate student from Manhattan, New York, anchored the Redhawk defense in a pair of 1-0 victories. At Incarnate Word on Friday, Burgess and company held UIW to just five shots, including none in the second half, as SU won 1-0 to clinch the 2019 WAC regular-season title.

On Sunday, the Redhawks won, 1-0, at UTRGV, containing the Vaqueros to seven total shots in another clean sheet.

Burgess has been vital in SU’s return to the top of the WAC standings. The Redhawks have allowed just seven goals in conference action, second-fewest in the WAC this season.
