KANSAS CITY – (Dec. 7) Nathan Aune of Seattle University men’s soccer has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American. Aune is the third Redhawk to be chosen All-American since the program moved to Division I.

Aune, a junior center back from Arlington, Wash., capped a fantastic season with the honor. He claimed WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and followed by winning WAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-WAC First Team. Aune earned a spot on the WAC All-Tournament Team. He then took United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team.

Aune was vital to SU’s 10 shutouts in 2017. Offensively, he recorded three goals and an assist, including a goal in the WAC Championship win over San Jose State on Nov. 12. Aune also scored the game-winner against then-No. 20 New Mexico on Aug. 27.

David Olsen and Kyle Bjornethun were United Soccer Coaches All-Americans in 2015. Olsen was first team and Bjorenthun received second team recognition.

This season, there were 37 players honored as United Soccer Coaches All-Americans. Aune is one of three WAC players to be picked for the three teams, joining Tucker Bone and Oscar Chacon of Air Force.
