SEATTLE (Jan. 20) - Seattle University women’s basketball hosts Grand Canyon on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) game is set for a 4 p.m. start at the Connolly Complex.
Due to expected traffic near SU from Saturday’s Women’s March on Seattle, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the contest.
The Redhawks (6-12, 3-0 WAC) are coming off a strong road trip last weekend. They won, 75-65, at UMKC on Jan. 12 and then took a 64-51 decision at Chicago State on Jan. 14. SU had four players score in double figures in both outings. Coach Suzy Barcomb, in her first season, has guided SU to a 3-0 start in conference play. It last went 3-0 in the WAC in the 2012-13 campaign, as the Redhawks began 7-0 and went on to win the WAC regular season title.
Montgomery ranks second in the WAC in scoring (15.7) and fifth in rebounding (7.1) per game. Best leads the league with 43 made three-pointers this season. Jacinta Beckley is averaging 15.5 points and 4.2 boards per game since entering the starting on Dec. 29.
