FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Dec. 17) - Seattle University women’s basketball heads to Colorado State on Sunday, Dec. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (Pacific)/7 p.m. (Mountain) at Moby Arena.
SU (3-9) won, 75-72, at Denver on Friday night. Kaylee Best led with 26 points as the Redhawks posted a season-high point total. Alexis Montgomery tallied 15 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds and Jacinta Beckley added eight points and six boards off the bench. Seattle U outscored Denver, 38-16, in the paint and held a 36-29 advantage on the glass.
Colorado State (6-4) beat New Mexico Highlands, 96-31, in its last game on Dec. 11. The Rams have won 21 straight games at home, dating back to last season.
Best leads SU with 16.8 points per game and a conference-high 35 made three-pointers in 12 outings. Montgomery has put up 14.4 points and 6.9 rebounds a game. She tops the WAC in field goal shooting at 43.9 percent.
Ellen Nystrom paces CSU with 13.5 points and 6.7 boards per game. She leads the Mountain West Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.25) and stands second in steals (20). The Rams have faced a challenging schedule, featuring three road games at Top-20 teams.
Last season, Colorado State won 31 games, winning the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles. It was picked to win the MWC crown in this year's preseason poll. Nystrom was selected preseason player of the year.
