SEATTLE (Dec. 7) - Seattle University women’s basketball travels to California for a pair of games, playing at UC Riverside on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. and then taking on San Diego on Monday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.
UC Riverside is 2-3 this season. It has not played since a 77-64 win over Grand Canyon on Nov. 29. Senior Rejane Verin led the Highlanders with 25 points and 9 rebounds in the home win.
San Diego has a 4-3 record. It lost, 76-59, at Arizona on Wednesday. Aubrey Ward-El scored a career-high 12 points, while Patricia Brossman put up 11 points and five rebounds.
Best leads the Redhawks with 17.3 points per game. She is playing 34.8 minutes per game and has made a team-leading 30 three-pointers in nine outings. Montgomery is averaging 13.7 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds a game.
For UCR, Verin has been the team’s top performer. She is averaging 17.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Lauren Holt and Simone DeCoud are both scoring in double figures as well.
Maya paces USD with 19 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season. She is shooting over 60 percent from the field. Katherine Hamilton is the Torero’s other double-digit scorer at 11.1 points a game.
