SEATTLE (Jan. 25) – The Seattle University women’s basketball team will play at New Mexico State with first place in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on the line on Thursday, Jan. 26. Tip-off at the Pan American Center is set for 7 p.m. (Mountain)/6 p.m. (Pacific).

The Redhawks (7-12, 4-0 WAC) have been playing their best basketball of the season, having dismantled Grand Canyon, 86-60, on Saturday. SU shot a season-high 53.3 percent from the field as Alexis Montgomery put up 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. Coach Suzy Barcomb’s squad shot 9-20 from three-point range on its way to a season-best point total. Kamira Sanders set a career high with 24 points and Jacinta Beckley matched her personal best with 18 points.

New Mexico State (13-6, 5-0 WAC) is the two-time defending WAC champion and the 2016-17 preseason favorite. The Aggies are coming off a 60-43 win at UMKC on Saturday. Gia Pack led with 16 points, while Moriah Mack and Brooke Salas added 12 points and 11 points, respectively. NM State held UMKC to 31 percent field goal shooting in the contest.

Montgomery paces Seattle U with 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. In WAC play, she is averaging 17.3 points and 10.0 boards with a pair of double-doubles. Beckley is logging 16 points on 55.6 percent shooting in four conference matches.

Salas, Mack, and Tamera William are each scoring in double figures for the Aggies this season. The trio has been joined by Pack in WAC action, as all four players are scoring between 11.4 and 14.8 points through five conference outings.

SU enters Thursday’s game on a four-game winning streak, while NMSU has won six in a row.
