SEATTLE (Dec. 28) – The Seattle University women’s basketball team hosts CSUN on Thursday, Dec. 29. The non-conference game is set for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Connolly Complex.
SU (3-11) has not played since Dec. 21, when it fell, 77-43, at SMU. Alexis Montgomery recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the Redhawks.
CSUN (6-6) also last played on Dec. 21, dropping a 77-71 decision to Southern Utah. Channon Fluker led the Matadors with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Montgomery and Kaylee Best lead SU with a combined 30.5 points per game. The pair are the two leading scorers in the WAC this season. Montgomery is pulling down 6.8 rebounds a game, while Best has hit a league-high 36 three-pointers through 14 outings.
Fluker is averaging 16.3 points this season. She is seventh nationally with seven double-doubles. The sophomore paces the Big West in made field goals (83), field goal percentage (55.3), rebounds (10.8), and blocked shots (24). Serafina Maulupe is adding 12.4 points per game and hitting 2.5 threes, most in the conference.
The teams have split two previous meetings. Last season, Seattle U won at CSUN, 62-56, as Best put up 21 points. She converted all 14 of her free throws. Fluker posted 20 points and 14 boards. In 2014-15, the Matadors won at SU. Best had another stellar game, leading the Redhawks with 23 points and 9 rebounds.
