Game Notes

SEATTLE (Nov. 17) - Seattle University women’s basketball hosts UCSB on Friday, Nov. 18. Tip-off for the non-conference game is slated for 7 p.m. at the Connolly Complex.

At the contest, the Seattle U SAAC will host a Holiday Toy Drive event. Fans who bring a toy to donate will receive a discounted ticket to the game. Those who donate will be entered to win a prize pack at the game.

From the SAAC,

“Every year Western Athletic Conference universities compete to raise funds for a Holiday Toy Drive.  After the collection period ends, SAAC members will congregate to purchase and deliver toys to local children and families-- this year the Toy Drive will be benefiting Seattle Rotary Boys and Girls Club.  Although the overall goal is to collect the most donations in the WAC, it is most important to give back to the families within our community.  As student-athletes, this is a way for us to not only give back to the community, but to reflect on our own privileges, and appreciate the opportunities we have been given. You can join us in our mission to give back to the community by donating at any of the following locations/events:

1st Floor Seattle University Student Center – Thursday, Nov. 17 12-2 p.m.

Women's Basketball - Seattle University Connolly Center: Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

Men's Basketball - Key Arena: Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

Women's Basketball - Seattle University Connolly Center: Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.”

The Redhawks (0-2) fell, 73-59, at the University of San Francisco on Tuesday night. Senior Kaylee Best scored a career-high 29 points as SU used a 27-10 second-half run to push the Dons late into the fourth quarter. Best’s 29 points are the most by a Redhawk since Dec. 12, 2008, when Breanna Salley scored 29 against Seattle Pacific. Best sank five threes, tying her career high. She posted eight rebounds, four assists and three steals as well.

UCSB (1-1) defeated Pepperdine, 66-57, in its home opener on Tuesday night. Coco Miller led with 24 points, hitting five three-pointers. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Drew Edelman added 16 points and six rebounds.

Coach Suzy Barcomb is in her first season at Seattle U. Her squad has faced a pair of 2016 NCAA Tournament participants, as Idaho and USF both qualified last season.

Bonnie Henrickson has begun her second season as the Gauchos’ head coach. UCSB won 12 games last year. It was voted to finish fourth in the Big West preseason poll.

The teams have split four previous meetings since 2010.
