Seattle U travels to Oregon for their first pre-holiday road trip before returning home for a New Year’s Eve contest vs. Long Beach State (2 p.m.). The Redhawks have one final non-conference game at CSU Northridge before starting conference play at home on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Bonvicini Approaches 700th Career Win: Joan Bonvicini has 697 career wins going into the Oregon game and is currently 10th on the wins list for Division I active women’s basketball head coaches. She looks to pick up her 700th career win in 2015-16.

Scouting Oregon (10-0): The Ducks are undefeated going into Monday’s contest with wins vs. No. 22 North Carolina as well as Clemson and San Jose State. Four Ducks are in double scoring figures this season led by Jillian Alleyne with 18.5 ppg. Lexi Petersen (14.4), Lexi Bando (13.2), and Maite Carzorla (10.7) also lead the team in scoring.

Welcome Home: The Connolly Center, now known as the Connolly Complex, recently received a face lift and renovation throughout the offseason and to start the 2015-16 season. After hosting their first three “home” games on the road, Seattle U played their first game back home vs. Boise State on Dec. 19. The interior is currently finished while the exterior portion of the project is set to be completed in mid to late January.

Matzke to Join SU Hall of Fame: Mandy Matzke (1996-2000), Seattle U’s ninth all-time leading scorer (1,258) and eighth all-time leading rebounding (685) is being inducted into the Seattle U Hall of Fame in spring 2016 as part of homecoming weekend in February.

Turkey Day Success: The Redhawks earned a 78-69 win, Joan Bonvicini’s 695th career win, vs. the host team, LMU, in the first round of the LMU Thanksgiving Classic before falling in the championship game to Princeton. Taelor Ross was named to the All-Tournament team.

Play4Kay Game: The team’s annual Play4Kay game will be Feb. 20 vs. reigning WAC champions New Mexico State. The team has a goal of raising $2,016 and their donation site is located at Stay tuned as the date nears for more details.

Women in Leadership Game on Jan. 30: Seattle U women’s basketball is set to host their second annual Women in Leadership game on Saturday, Jan. 30 vs. Grand Canyon. The now annual tradition welcomes and celebrates five accomplished women from the Seattle community and will also involve the past year’s honorees. Stay tuned for the announcement of this year’s honorees.
