DENVER – (Dec. 18) Alexis Montgomery of Seattle University women’s basketball has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, for the period ending Dec. 17. The senior put up three double-doubles to lead the Redhawks to a 2-1 week.
Montgomery was instrumental in SU’s 2-0 road trip to Montana and Idaho last week. At Montana, the native of Beaverton, Ore., posted 22 points and 11 rebounds. She sank a career-high five three-pointers in a 78-64 victory.
In a 68-60 win at Idaho, Montgomery went for 18 points and 11 boards, along with four assists and two steals.
To cap the week, the senior notched 25 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals against Pacific. She extended her streak of double-doubles to five, giving her a WAC-high seven on the season. In her career, Montgomery has compiled 18 outings with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Through 12 contests, Montgomery paces the WAC in scoring (20.8), rebounds (10.4), double-doubles (7), and free throw percentage (82.4).
The WAC Preseason Player of the Year has won a pair of the conference’s weekly honors this season. She also claimed the award on Dec. 4. It is her fourth career WAC player of the week recognition.
