Seattle University head coach Joan Bonvicini has announced the transfer of Delanie Parry (Beaverton, Ore.), a guard who competed at Portland State during her freshman campaign. Parry will begin school at Seattle U during the 2014-15 school year, but will redshirt the upcoming season and have three remaining years of eligibility beginning with the 2015-16 season.

“We are excited to welcome Delanie to our Seattle University basketball program,” said Bonvicini. “She is a talented, high-energy, scoring point guard who is comfortable making the solid assist or pulling up for a jumper. She will fit in well with our up-tempo play both offensively and defensively.”

Parry appeared in all 29 games and made 11 starts as a true freshman at Portland State in 2013-14, shooting .360 (54-for-150) from the floor and .680 (17-for-25) from the free-throw line.

A four-year varsity letterwinner, three-year starter, and 2013 graduate of Westview High School, Parry helped lead the Wildcats to a state championship and undefeated season during her freshman campaign. She was named Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, averaging 12.2 points per game, five steals per game, and eight assists per game. Breaking the school three-point record as a junior, she scored a career-high 38 points in February 2012 and was a two-time First Team All-League honoree.

Parry joins fellow transfer, Cydnee Ceballos (Phoenix, Ariz.) as well as incoming freshmen Jazmine Johnson (Lakewood, Calif.), Crystal Allen (Fort Worth, Texas), Ashlyn Lewey (Spokane, Wash.), and Jacinta Beckley (Paraparaumu Beach, New Zealand), who will join the team beginning with the 2014-15 season.
