Seattle U To Host Annual Thanksgiving Tournament: Seattle University women’s basketball (1-4) hosts their annual Delta Dental Thanksgiving Tournament for the fifth straight year, every year since head coach Joan Bonvicini started her tenure at Seattle U. In 2012-13, the Redhawks won the tournament after defeating Portland, 63-61, on Nov. 23 and Sacred Heart, 74-70, on Nov. 24. This season, SU is set to host Drake, Cornell, and Coastal Carolina in the annual tournament. Drake and Cornell will face off on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5:00 pm as the Redhawks will face Coastal Carolina at 7:00 pm on day one. On day two, Saturday, Nov. 30, the consolation game will take place at 4:00 pm followed by the championship game at 6:00 pm. $1 Tickets for Thanksgiving Food Drive: On Friday, Nov. 29, fans will receive $1 admission for both games by bringing any non-perishable food item to benefit Northwest Harvest.

Scouting Drake: Drake won their season opener versus Creighton, 62-55, on Nov. 8, earning their second win of the season at South Dakota in overtime, 89-81, on Nov. 21. Kyndal Clark and Lizzy Wendell average in double scoring figures for the Bulldogs with 15.2 and 10.0 points per game, respectively, while Morgan Reid averages a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game. Now in her second season at the helm, head coach Jennie Baranczyk became the fifth Drake women’s basketball coach to win 10 or more games in their first season in 2012-13.

Scouting Cornell: Cornell will face Loyola University on Nov. 26 after opening up the season with wins at Colgate, 76-62, and Buffalo, 79-72, on Nov. 8 and 16 and, most recently, falling at Syracuse, 89-48, and vs. Bucknell, 72-59 on Nov. 18 and 23. As of Nov. 25, Allyson DiMagno leads Cornell with 13.3 ppg. At the helm in her 12th season, Dayna Smith is the winningest coach in program history.

Scouting Coastal Carolina: Coastal Carolina has opened up 2013-14 winning four of their first five, including most recently versus Montreat College, 99-71, on Nov. 25. Four Chanticleers average in double figures, led by AJ Jordan, who is averaging 17.8 points per game. Angelica Henry (13.4 ppg), Kayla Cook (12.2 ppg), and Alexx Puckett (11.8) also are among the team leaders in scoring. The Chanticleers are led by first year head coach Jaida Williams who comes to Coastal Carolina after serving as an assistant coach at Wake Forest.
