SEATTLE (Aug. 16) – Men and women’s cross country has released their 2017 schedule. Redhawk runners will compete three times at Seattle area venues – Magnussen Park, Lincoln Park and Jefferson Park Golf Course.
Head Coach Kelly Sullivan enters his first year at the helm of Seattle U cross country. “We are starting the season off with two local meets that Seattle University has traditionally competed in,” Sullivan said. “The big adjustment we have made is heading out of state for two really good collegiate meets. The first being Charles Bowles Invitational hosted by Willamette University in Salem, Ore., followed by the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara in Sunnyvale, Calif.”
The 2017 Western Athletic Conference Cross County Championships will be held on Oct. 28 in Las Cruces, N.M.
"The team will have its eyes set on this meet from day one," said Sullivan. " The WAC Championships at NMSU will have a competitive field. Many teams will be vying for the title, incluing us."
Cross country will look to use the momentum from a strong finish last season. The men finished in the top 20 in the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2012, while the women finished in the top 25 for the fifth consecutive time. This season the NCAA West Regionals will be hosted by University of Washington at Jefferson Park Golf Course on Nov. 10. The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 18.
