SEATTLE - (Nov. 8) The Seattle University cross country teams will compete in the NCAA West Regional here in Seattle on Friday, Nov. 10. Races begin at 10:30 a.m. PT at Jefferson Park Golf Course. The women's 6k will be the first race with the men's 10k following at 11:30 a.m. PT. The course will start by making a large loop on the outside of the golf course before making a small loop on the interior of the course. The entirety of the race will be ran on grass. Jefferson Park Golf Course is located at 4101 Beacon Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108.

In preparation for the race, Seattle University Athletics sat down with senior Tyler Flannery to ask him some questions. Tyler was part of the 2016 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference team and finished with a 10k time of 34:29.2 at the 2016 West Regional. Flannery finished 10th in the outdoor 10k at the 2017 WAC Championships with a time of 32:19.92. Flannery's outdoor 5k personal best is 14:41.81. Tyler is married to Kelly Flannery who is also a Seattle U graduate.

Where are you from?
I am from Auburn, WA about 45 minutes south of Seattle.

What attracted you initially to running?
I really just loved running the mile in P.E. I was faster than most of my peers and I was setting school records.

What is your preferred distance?
I love the 5000 meters on the track. It is the perfect combination of endurance and speed.

What is your favorite part of running in Seattle?
Lake Washington on a crisp morning with a sunrise.

What is your favorite thing to do in Seattle?
I love going out to eat at restaurants.

What is your favorite type of music?
Alternative/Indie Rock

What is your favorite type of food?
Anything with meat.

Pick one: 100 degrees or 40 degrees
40 degrees for sure. The closer to snow temperatures the better.

What is your best memory as a Redhawk?
After ancillary practice, during one of the snow days last year, we had a team wide snow ball fight in and around the Connelly Cube.

What is your hidden talent?
I can ride a unicycle. Well, the last time I tried I could, which was like 5 years ago.

What was the last concert you saw?
Young the Giant with Cold War Kids

Are you a dog or a cat person?
Cat person. I actually have a cat named Shoelace.

What is your favorite sport to watch?
Track and Marathon road racing, especially during an Olympic Year.

What is your favorite hobby?
RPG Video games
