RICHMOND, Ky. – (Sept. 12) Katarina Marinkovic recorded her third double-double in the past four matches to lead Seattle U volleyball past Eastern Kentucky, 25-13, 25-16, 19-25, 25-17, at Alumni Coliseum in Richmond, Ky., Tuesday.

The sophomore outside hitter came one kill shy of a fourth straight 20-kill outing, finishing with 19 kills on a .314 hitting percentage to go along with 10 digs. Rachel Stark added 12 kills, Shae Harris had 44 assists and Tijana Milojevic collected 23 digs as the Redhawks moved to 3-7 on the year.

“We came out ready to play with focus and intensity today and turned in a solid performance,” said Head Coach James Finley. “We had another solid job setting by Shae and Katarina with her third double-double. Maja (Stojanovic) also had a great day with a .486 hitting percentage and just one error.”

The Redhawks jumped out to huge leads in both the first and second sets to take control of the match. They led 16-2 midway through the first set, holding EKU to a -.061 hitting percentage. The second set was more of the same as SU hit .345 on its way to a 25-16 win.

A brief letdown in the third set allowed EKU back into the match with a 25-19 win. But the Redhawks put things away in the fourth set, building a 10-point lead, 22-12, before cruising to the 25-17 win.

Harris added a team-high six blocks while Stark served up four of the Redhawks’ seven aces. Seattle U hit .256 for the match while holding EKU to .068.

The Redhawks remain on the road this week, traveling next to Edwardsville, Ill., to face Montana, Southern Illinois and host SIUE in the Cougar Invite Friday and Saturday.
