SEATTLE – (Apr. 24) A busy stretch of spring competition awaits the Seattle University vollebyall team over the next few weeks, culminating with a tournament hosted by the Redhawks in the Connolly Complex.

On Saturday, Apr. 29, the Redhawks head down I5 to Portland where they will face Portland State. On Saturday, May 6, they will head south once again, this time to the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Ore., to take on Oregon and Western Washington.

The spring slate will conclude on Saturday, May 13 in Seattle with the Redhawks hosting Western Washington University, Central Washington University, Skagit CC, Shoreline CC, Edmonds CC and University of Washington in a tournament in the Connolly Complex. Game times and match-ups are still to be determined.

"We are looking forward to the challenges we face this spring," said Head Coach James Finley, who will enter his fifth year with the prgram in the fall of 2017.  "We have good competition coming up the next three weeks and our goal as a team is to perform at a higher level in serve receive and defense.

"Each player has specific skills they have been working on and we look forward to putting that effort to the test," he continued. "We have spent the winter and spring quarter working on our physical quickness and power along with developing specific ball control skills. With competition like Portland State, Western Washington, Central Washington, Oregon and the UW over the next three weeks we will have ample opportunities to work under pressure. Trying out new skills along with mental positively we we are under pressure will be keys the coaching staff will be focused on."
