DENVER -  (May 2) The Western Athletic Conference announced the 2017 Women's Tennis All-Tournament honorees, as voted on by the coaches, following last week's championship in Las Cruces, N.M.

Juniors Michelle Lui and Madison Maloney represented SU on the all-tournament team for their outstanding doubles play against Chicago State and top-seeded UMKC.

In their opening round match vs. Chicago State, Lui and Maloney defeated Carynne Lloyd and Lorea Gamboa 7-6. They followed that up with an impressive 6-1 victory over Melinda Johnson and Yana Grechkina of UMKC.

In addition to their doubles success, both Lui and Maloney earned singles victories against Chicago State to open the tournament. Lui defeated CSU's Mariya Kostyuk 6-1, 6-4, while Maloney beat Lorea Gamboa 6-4, 6-1.

Head coach Adam Reeb felt it was an appropriate way to culminate the 2016-17 season.

"Michelle and Madison are once again very deserving of this honor," said Reeb. "They played some great tennis over the weekend and helped us get the doubles point in both our quarterfinal and semifinal matches.

They were leaders of our team the whole year and this was a fitting honor for them to finish with."
