SEATTLE - (Oct. 26) Seattle U Athletics sat down with tennis' senior Matt Alderson. In his time at Seattle U, Alderson has been awarded Western Athletic Conference Tennis Athlete of the Week, ITA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-WAC. Alderson advanced to the round of 64 in the recent ITA Regionals.
Where are you from?
Bainbridge Island, Wash.
What attracted you initially to tennis?
My older brother tore his ACL skiing and the doctor said that tennis would help it heal from the lateral movements and being the competitive younger brother, I wanted to start playing as well.
What is your preferred doubles or singles?
I prefer doubles because it is faster paced and less pressure when you have a partner to lean on.
What is your favorite part of playing tennis in Seattle?
My favorite part of playing tennis in Seattle is that we get to play both indoors and outdoors which helps to become a more well-rounded player
What is your favorite thing to do in Seattle?
My favorite things to do in Seattle are outdoor activities like skiing, hiking and wake-boarding.

Anything with Drake
What is your favorite type of food?

What is your best memory as a Redhawk?
My best memory as a Redhawk was traveling with the tennis team to Las Vegas my freshman year.

Men's tennis travels to Spokane, Wash., to compete in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Gonzaga University. This event will be the third and final event of the fall before dual season begins in January. Watch the event live HERE beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday.
