COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (Feb. 25) The Seattle U men's tennis team split a pair of Saturday matches against Colorado College and Air Forice as they moved to 8-8 on the season.

The Redhawks earned a clean sweep vs. Colorado Colege as each singles game was decided in two sets. In singles No. 2, Trenton Nield defeated Jason Gutierrez  6-1, 6-2. Michael Schoettler earned a win over Logan Pepperl in singles No. 3, 6-2, 7-6. John Stormans, Matt Alderson, and Alex Chan also won their matchups 6-0, 6-0, 6-2, 6-3, and 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Arshak Ghazaryan and Noah Forman faced off against one another, but did not end up finishing their matchup.

Overall, it was a dominating performance by Seattle U with each player performing well. The Redhawks then had a couple hours to re-group before facing off against Air Force, which proved to be too tough a task. The Falcons defeated SU 6-1 despite several tightly contested matchups.

Ghazaryan and Alderson were outlasted in doubles play 6-4 followed by a 6-3 defeat for Schoettler and Stormans. Ghazaryan then fell to Max Olson is singles play 6-4, 6-4. The rest of singles went much of the same, as the Redhawks were right there but could never quite get over the hump. Head coach Adam Reeb shared his thoughts on what was a busy day of tennis.

"Today was a long day but very proud of how the guys fought and played all day," said Reeb. "We took care of business against Colorado College and then played Air Force tough on their home courts, never an easy task.

We were right there on almost every court, but credit to Air Force who came up clutch when they needed it. It's a process and we'll learn and keep trying to get better. This is a resilient group and we're looking forward to finishing the weekend strong tomorrow morning against Northern Arizona."

The men return to action tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. against Northern Arizona as they look to improve their season record to 9-8.
