SEATTLE (March 2) – Seattle University softball makes the trip to Hawaii for the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament this weekend. The Redhawks will play five games in Honolulu March 3-5.

SU (3-11) plays Hawaii on Friday, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Redhawks face Charleston Southern (11 a.m.) and Toledo (1 p.m.). They then play twice on Sunday, with the schedule depending on the results of the first two days of action.

For Seattle U, Paige Bouska is hitting .373 in 14 starts. Madison Cathcart leads the team with three doubles and eight RBIs.

Hawaii has a 6-6 record. It went 2-3 in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational last weekend. Danielle Garcielita is batting .368 with four walks this year. Callee Heen has three home runs and 10 RBIs. The Rainbow Wahine were picked to finish fifth in the Big West Conference preseason poll.

Toledo is 3-11 in 2017. It posted a 1-3 mark at the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic in South Carolina last weekend. Chandler Rice has a .436 on-base percentage with three homers and 10 RBIs this season. The Rockets were voted third in the MAC West preseason poll.

Charleston Southern has a 9-9 record after going 3-3 at the Willie Jewell’s Invitational Tournament. Stevi Johnson is hitting .372, while Jade Gandara has a team-high six home runs and 16 RBIs. The Buccaneers were voted to finish fourth in the Big South preseason poll.
