SEATTLE – (June 26) Seattle University track & field and cross country celebrated its 2017-18 campaign with its year-end banquet earlier this month. First-year head coach Kelly Sullivan and his staff honored the senior class and looked back on a stellar season for the Redhawks.
Seattle U saw 14 seniors graduate from the program this month, with eight males and six females earning diplomas.
Eli Boudouris won the team’s Most Outstanding honor for track & field after setting the 3000m steeplechase school record. He was also a member of the indoor distance medley relay that took gold at the WAC Championships.
Olivia Stein earned the team’s Most Outstanding award for both track & field and cross country. She won a gold medal in the 10,000m at the WAC Outdoor Championships.
Matthew Seidel took home the team’s Most Outstanding accolades for cross country. The senior broke two school records (indoor 3000m and outdoor 5000m) and was the anchor on the gold-medal-winning indoor distance medley relay.
At the banquet, Shaddye Melu ’16 was the guest speaker. Melu was a seven-time WAC champion who owns seven school records.
