WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – (May 14) Recent Seattle U graduate Dorsey Addicks just became the first Redhawk golfer to qualify for an LPGA event by shooting a 1-under-par 70 in the qualifying tournament on the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort on Monday.
“This is a super exciting moment for me in my career thus far,” Addicks said. “The opportunity to play in an LPGA event is amazing.”
Addicks, who graduated just last year, finished tied for first with her score, earning one of the spots left for the 144-participant Championship which starts on Thursday.
“I’ve been putting a lot of work into my game since I graduated last June and this just confirms that I’m moving in the right direction. I played really a really solid round of golf today and luckily it was good enough to qualify. I look forward to this week and having some fun playing on a great course.”
Current Seattle U head coach Marc Chandonnet shared his excitement after Addicks qualified.
“Wow,” Chandonnet said. “Words cannot express the excitement we have for Dorsey and her support system. She’s an incredibly hard worker doing all the right things and she deserves this opportunity. Dorsey’s contributions as an athlete and WGCA Academic All-American while here at Seattle U are unparalleled and we will forever be thankful for those efforts. It’s nice to see her growth as a player and we know this is just the beginning.”
Addicks’ hard work seems to be paying off, but regardless of where she is playing, she never forgets her roots.
“It is a great honor to represent Seattle University at the professional level,” Addicks said. “We are a small program but I’m doing my best to help put SU on the map. I owe a lot of my success to everyone who helped me during my journey at SU.”
Addicks will play in the 14th edition of the Kingsmill Championship presented by Geico this Thursday, May 17 through the 20th.
