PORTLAND – (Nov. 2) Seattle University women's rowing got its first taste of competition over the weekend, competing in the Portland Fall Classic hosted by the University of Portland on the Willamette River.

The Redhawks competed in three of the four races, including the varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight. Opening the day in the V8+, Seattle U finished the 5k course in 19:18.306 trailing host Portland.

Seattle U went on to take second in the remaining two races, finishing the V4+ in 22:52.863 and the N8+ in 21:59.181.

"This was a great way to start the season," said SU Head Coach Jenny Park. "I'm proud of our results and we look forward to improving over the next week and racing at home next week!"
