Darren Talley begins his fourth year as an assistant coach at Seattle University.

He assisted head coach Cameron Dollar in putting together a team that posted a 17-14 record in their first year with the program, the first school to post a winning record in its first year as a Division I counter playing a full Division I schedule.

Before coing to Seattle U, Talley served five years on the men’s basketball staff at the University of Washington, the last four as the team’s Director of Video Operations. During his five years at Washington, Talley was a part of three NCAA tournament appearances including back-to-back Sweet 16’s in 2006-2007. He also contributed to the Huskies’ first regular season outright Pac-10 championship (2008-09) since 1953.

Talley’s primary responsibilities at Washington included breaking down tape of opponents for scouting, practice and game film for player development, coordinating film exchange with opponents and managing the taping of games, practices and individual sessions. Talley also played an integral role in coordinating daily practice management.

For four straight summers Talley was the director of the Lorenzo Romar Team Shootout, which under his direction grew into the largest in its history. Talley also assisted in the planning and execution of all other Lorenzo Romar summer basketball camps.

In the summer of 2006 Talley served with Head Coach Lorenzo Romar on the USA basketball staff that won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U18 Championships, a team that included future NBA standouts Spencer Hawes, Jaryd Bayless, Michael Beasley and Johnny Flynn.

While working at Washington, Talley earned Masters of Sports and Exercise Leadership from Seattle Pacific University in 2005. From 2002-2004 Talley served as an assistant coach at Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle. Talley graduated from Chapman University in 2002 with a degree in Psychology.

Darren and his wife Janet, both natives of Bellingham, WA, reside in the Seattle area. They have one daughter, Jada, born February 14, 2008, and one son, Jackson, born February 13, 2011.
