BELLEVUE, Wash. – The Redhawk bats came alive Saturday at Bannerwood Park as Seattle U baseball pounded out a season-high 17 hits on its way to an 11-1, 8-inning win over California Baptist. The victory evened the Western Athletic Conference series between the two schools.

"This was a much needed win today," said Head Coach Donny Harrel. "We did a really good job against CBU's starter and as we got to him, it got contagious. It was really good to see that contagious offense after some of these game we've been through."

Jarrod Billig kept the Lancers (19-11, 4-4 WAC) battery in check, allowing just three hits and one run in 6.2 innings of work for his first win of the season. Max Cuenca tossed the final 1.1 innings, fanning one and allowing just one hit.

"Billig gave us another quality start and good job by Max in relief," Harrel said. "This was a good team day for us and hopefully we can keep it going."

The Redhawks broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs off of four hits in the frame. Kyler Murphy got things going with the first hit of the game - a one-out, single up the middle. He would move to third on a passed ball and wild pitch, then score on Jacob Prater's single into right-center field.

A sacrifice bunt and walk moved Prater to second and Justin Mazzone to first. The two moved up a base on a wild pitch before Connor O'Brien drove a single up the middle to send both runners home, making it 3-0 Redhawks.

CBU would get one run back in the fourth, using a trio of hits to plate Luke Navigato.

Bu the Redhawks would continue to pour it on, scoring twice in the fourth, four times in the fifth, once in the sixth and once in the eighth before the game was called due to the run rule.

O'Brien and Chase Wells collected three hits apiece while Prater, Jake Taylor, Julian Kodama and Murphy each added a pair of hits. Prater drove in three runs while O'Brien and Taylor collected two RBIs a piece.

The WAC series concludes Sunday with a 12 p.m. first pitch at Bannerwood Park. For the most up-to-date information on game day, be sure to follow the Redhawks on Twitter at @seattleubase.
