Seattle University head baseball coach Donny Harrel has been busy during the summer of 2012, taking steps to continue the progression of the Redhawk baseball program.
The highlight of the past couple of months for Harrel has been a trip to the Dominican Republic, where he accompanied teams from Minnesota as an advisor to give feedback on the organization and playing ability of those squads. He also took notes about how a trip back to the country would be beneficial to the Seattle U baseball program as both a playing and a service opportunity.
While in the Central American country, Harrel helped teach baseball to the local youth as well as brought food and other necessities to the villages. He also took time to sit down for a video interview with David Franco of NextLevelBallplayer.com. A link to that video accompanies this story.
On July 24, Harrel greeted Redhawk fans and threw out the ceremonial first pitch as the Everett AquaSox hosted Seattle University Night at Everett Memorial Stadium.
The Seattle University baseball team will compete in the Western Athletic Conference beginning in the 2013 season and will be eligible for the conference title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
