Donny Harrel begins his fifth year at Seattle University as the architect of the reborn baseball program.

The Redhawks once again increased their season win total in 2012, finishing with 23 victories. Once again, Seattle U earned a victory at Washington, plus picked up an important win at Washington State. The Redhawks also took two of three at San Jose State, the first road series victory for the program since it was reestablished.

In 2011, Harrel led the Redhawks to a 21-30-1 record, doubling the win total from the previous season. Seattle U took two of three games from Notre Dame and split season series with Pac-10 schools Oregon State and Washington. The Redhawks also picked up victories over Super Regional participant Dallas Baptist, Portland, San Jose State, Sacramento State, and Nevada, among others.

Previous to coaching at Seattle U, Harrel was an assistant baseball coach at the University of Washington for four years. At the UW, Harrel was not only responsible for assisting in on-field coaching, but he also was responsible for the Huskies' schedule and assisted with travel issues, budgeting, and helping student-athletes through the admissions process. He also oversaw the team's academic performance and was named Academic Coach of the Quarter in Winter 2007 when the team broke a 14-year record for highest cumulative grade point average.

Before coming to Seattle, Harrel was an assistant coach at Oregon State during the 2003-04 season. His head coaching experience comes from seven seasons at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., where he compiled a 220-90 record and led the team to the NWAACC championship in 1999. Named NWAACC Southern Division Coach of the Year four times, he also led fundraising efforts to build a field, improve other facilities, buy equipment, and increase scholarship opportunities.

Donny and his wife Cam have two children, daughter Brooklyn and son Easton, and a dog, Wrigley.
