COLORADO SPRINGS – Seattle University men’s soccer dropped a 2-1 contest at No. 15 Air Force Saturday. Sergio Rivas scored on a penalty kick for the Redhawks in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match at Cadet Soccer Stadium.

"I liked how we battled tonight," said Coach Pete Fewing. "We didn't finish our chanches. I liked our effort, but we have to do more to win games."

In the first half, the Redhawks outshot the Falcons, 13-7, and earned a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. However, the hosts found the night’s first goal in the 29th minute.

SU (10-6-0, 4-4-0 WAC) pounded the AFA (14-2-0, 7-1-0 WAC) back line late in the frame, continuously drawing corner kicks and pressuring in the box. The Falcons hung on, though, taking a one-goal edge into halftime.

The teams battled in the second half, as the Redhawks worked to find an equalizer. With time running down, a Declan McGlynn corner kick led to the freshmen being taken down in the box in the 84th minute. Rivas stepped up to take the ensuing penalty kick and drilled a shot into the left side of the net to even the match.

The home side regained the lead with 1:11 remaining, as Tucker Bone scored the winner.

Seattle U held a 20-12 lead in shots. Josh Adachi recorded four saves in goal.

Seattle U returns home next weekend, hosting UTRGV and Incarnate Word at Championship Field.
