Seattle, Wash. -
The Seattle University African American Alumni Chapter
hosted their sixth annual reception in celebration of Black History Month on
Feb. 24. The “Scholarly Athletes” themed reception recognized alumni who have
contributed to Seattle U and the community during both their time as
student-athletes and post-graduation through academic, professional and civic
accomplishments. The “Scholarly Athletes” theme was chosen not only to
recognize former African American student-athletes, but also in continued support
of Seattle U’s return to full NCAA Division I status.
Attending the event were former men’s basketball players:
Ernie Dunston ’64, Ronald Howard ’74 and Wayne Sanford ’55. Representing the
women’s basketball team at the event were Lisa Hill ’91 and Jackie Thomas ’08, ’09.
There was also a posthumous recognition of former men’s
basketball players: Castromo Preston ’92, ’97, Gerald Wright ’89 and Keith
Harrell ’78.
