The Seattle University athletics department has announced the men’s basketball schedule for the 2013-14 season, which features 14 home games at KeyArena at Seattle Center as well as seven games against five schools that participated in the postseason after the 2012-13 season.

The Redhawks open the season Sunday, Nov. 10, with the crosstown showdown against the Washington Huskies, who played in the 2013 National Invitational Tournament, at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised by the Pac-12 Network, the second consecutive year that Seattle U men’s basketball will appear on the national channel.

Seattle U opens the home schedule Wednesday, Nov. 13, with the annual Elgin Baylor Classic, this season hosting Cal State Fullerton at KeyArena. The Redhawks will stay home for a game against Evergreen State Saturday, Nov. 16, before heading to Boise, Idaho, to face 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Boise State Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The squad will become very familiar with California state schools, starting with home games against UC Riverside (Monday, Nov. 25) and UC Davis (Monday, Dec. 2) sandwiched around a short road trip to Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash., Friday, Nov. 29. The Redhawks will travel to Southern California the next weekend, facing Cal State Northridge (Thursday, Dec. 5) and Cal State Fullerton (Saturday, Dec. 7).

After taking fall quarter finals, the Redhawks host Pacific Lutheran in an afternoon contest Sunday, Dec. 15. Seattle U will play in the ShoWare Showdown for the third straight season, this time facing defending MEAC regular season champion Norfolk State at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash., Thursday, Dec. 19. Seattle U will conclude its non-conference schedule with a road game at Nebraska-Omaha Sunday, Dec. 22, and a home game against UC Santa Barbara Monday, Dec. 30.

The Western Athletic Conference schedule begins Saturday, Jan. 4, against conference newcomer UMKC. The Redhawks hit the road the next weekend, traveling to defending WAC tournament champion New Mexico State Thursday, Jan. 9, and new member Texas-Pan American Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Redhawks host CSU Bakersfield Thursday, Jan. 16, and Utah Valley Sunday, Jan. 19, before traveling on consecutive Saturdays to Grand Canyon (Jan. 25) and Idaho (Feb. 1). Seattle U returns to KeyArena to face Texas-Pan American Thursday, Feb. 6, and New Mexico State Saturday, Feb. 8.

After a conference road trip to Utah Valley (Thursday, Feb. 13) and CSU Bakersfield (Saturday, Feb. 15), Seattle U plays its final three home games in a row, starting with Grand Canyon Thursday, Feb. 20. The next weekend, the Redhawks host last year’s Great West Conference Tournament champion Chicago State (Thursday, Feb. 27) and Idaho (Saturday, March 1) before ending the regular season at UMKC (Thursday, March 6) and at Chicago State (Saturday, March 8).

The Western Athletic Conference Tournament returns to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. With Grand Canyon not eligible for a postseason bid, the other eight schools will begin the tournament with four quarterfinal games on Thursday, March 13, followed by the semifinals Friday, March 14, and the championship game Saturday, March 15, with the winner receiving the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Every game of the Seattle U men’s basketball season will be broadcast on 770 AM KTTH The Truth. Besides the Washington game, other contests to be televised will be announced at a later date.

Season tickets are currently on sale by contacting the Seattle U Athletics Ticket Office at 206-398-GOSU (4678). Tickets for the Washington game on Nov. 10 will be sold through the Husky Ticket Office, while individual tickets for Redhawk games at KeyArena will go on sale in the near future.
