Seattle, Wash. -

The Seattle University men's basketball team is currently on a two-week trip to the People's Republic of China August 22 through September 4.

The team will visit four cities in China: Beijing, Fuxin, Qianjiang, and Heze. The Redhawks will play five games against international competition during the trip.

Plans are also in the works for the team to meet Gary Locke, the United States Ambassador to China. Ambassador Locke served two terms as governor of the state of Washington and received an honorary degree from Seattle University in 2005.

"First and foremost, this will be a tremendous educational experience for our players. We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity," Cameron Dollar, head coach of the Seattle U men's basketball team, said.

The travel roster for this trip will consist of 12 players: seniors Tidjane Diop (Queensland, Australia), Louis Green (Westchester, Ill.), Prince Obasi (Reseda, Calif.), and Allen Tate (Hobbs, N.M.); juniors Sterling Carter (Seattle, Wash.), D'Vonne Pickett Jr. (Seattle, Wash.), and Clarence Trent (Tacoma, Wash.); sophomore Jarell Flora (Bremerton, Wash.); redshirt freshmen Luiz Bidart (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Deshaun Sunderhaus (Rockdale County, Ga.); and true freshmen Jack Crook (Manchester, U.K.) and David Trimble (Yakima, Wash.).

The Seattle University men's basketball team joins the Western Athletic Conference beginning in 2012-13 and will be eligible for the conference title along with a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
