2012: 1-0 in singles play ... took down Puget Sound's Aya Sugimoto 6-2, 6-4 Feb. 19 ... 1-1 in doubles play ... with Mikaela Peterson, took down Moilla and Patton of Pacific Lutheran 8-2 Oct. 5.
2010: Has a 21-10 singles record and a 10-10 doubles record so far for the 09-10 season.
Central Kitsap HS: Playing for Ken Allen, Aya was the number one singles player for the Cougars and qualified for the state tournament in her sophomore season. She followed that up with a sixth place finish in the 2007 state singles tournament and capped off her high school career by winning the doubles state championship in 2008.
Personal: Born April 26, 1990, she is the oldest daughter of Yoshiyuki and Chiyuki Sugimoto and has one younger sister. She is majoring in international studies, can speak fluent Japanese, and has been playing the piano for the past 12 years.
