The Seattle University men’s golf team finished their second
tournament of the year Tuesday, playing the final round of the Dash Thomas
Memorial held at The Club at Spurwing in Meridian, Idaho.
Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) finished as the top-ranked
Redhawk, finishing in a tie for 11th after turning in a final round score
of 1-over-par 73. Seibly took 213 strokes to finish at even-par for the tournament.
David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) ended up in a tie for 49th,
shooting 7-over-par 78 Tuesday to end at 11-over-par 224 for the tournament.
Just one stroke behind him finished Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.).
Matchett fired a 1-over-par 72 Tuesday to climb up seven spots into a tie for 52nd. He also led the entire field in pars throughout the tournament, playing 43 holes
at even-par.
John Pechan (Bothell, Wash.) concluded his tournament with a
second-straight 76, five strokes above par. He ended in a tie for 67th
with 233 strokes, 20 above par for the tournament. Four strokes higher, at 24-over-par 237,
finished Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.), who carded a 9-over-par 80 Tuesday to
take 70th place.
As a team, Seattle University remained in 11th
with an overall score of 893, 41 strokes above par. Washington State took the
tournament’s team crown with a score of 9-under-par 843, and Mason Casper of
Utah Valley earned medalist honors with a score of 7-under-par 206.
The Seattle University men’s golf team has nearly two weeks
off before its next tournament, the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invite Monday, October
8. The two-day tournament will take place at the Monarch Dunes Golf Club in
Nipomo, Calif.
