The Seattle University men’s golf team started play at the America
Sky Conference Championship Sunday, ending the first round in a tie for fifth
at Lake of Isles Golf Course in Ledyard, Conn.
Leading the way for Seattle U is Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.).
Dahl carded a four-over 76 Sunday and is tied at 10th with five other players.
Two SU teammates sit
two strokes behind Dahl as Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) and Preston Matchett
(Billings, Mont.) both took 78 strokes (+6) on the day to finish in a tie at 18th.
Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) carded an 82 (+10) for the
first round, placing in a tie for 37th, while Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) rounded
out SU’s first day of the conference championships by shooting 86 (+14) and
tying for 49th.
Seattle U tallied a team score of 314 (+26), tying for fifth
with Utah Valley. Sacramento State has the team lead after a first round score
of 290 (+2), while the Hornets’ Cameron Rappleye has the individual lead after
firing 71 (-1).
The Redhawks will tee it up again Monday, April 30, for
round two of the America Sky Conference Championship. Tee times for SU begin at
9:00 a.m. EST (6:00 a.m. PST) at Lake of Isles Golf Course.
