DAVIS, Calif. – Seattle University softball dropped a 1-0 contest at UC Davis that was shortened to five innings by darkness Friday. Carley Nance pitched a complete game at the Aggie Invitational.
"We had some opportunities today," said Coach Geoff Hirai. "We made some mistakes and now we have four games left this weekend to see what kind of fight we have."
The hosts scored a run in the bottom of the first and made it stand up. Nance contained the Aggie offense for the vast majority of the game, facing no more than four hitters in an inning after the first frame.
The Redhawks (6-5) put a runner on in four of their trips to the plate, including a Cherise Silvan double to lead off the fifth. However, SU was unable to find a tying run Friday.
Seattle U plays twice on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational. It faces UTEP at 9 a.m. and then takes on UC Davis at 11 a.m.
