LAKEWOOD, WASH. – History repeated itself on Thursday for Seattle U women’s golf as sophomore Vendela From sat in a tie for first place overall after the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships. As a team, the Redhawks finished the day in second place at eight strokes over par, just three strokes behind first-place Utah Valley. Both From’s and the Redhawks’ results echo those from the first round of the 2018 WAC Championships.
From opened the round with two straight birdies, eventually reaching a low score of four under par before finishing at a two-under 69. Classmate Kimberlee Tottori also had a solid day, finishing the first 18 with a one-over 72 and an eighth-place tie, while junior Krystal Hu followed just behind with a round of 73. Senior Yen Ting Wong and sophomore Keisha Lugito posted rounds of 78 and 79, respectively, to finish the day for Seattle U.
Round Two of the WAC Championships starts on Friday, April 19 at 8:00 AM.
