Donny Harrel begins his seventh year at Seattle University as the architect of the reborn baseball program.

In 2014, Seattle U won 26 games, the most since the program returned in 2010, and qualified for the WAC Baseball Tournament after going 13-11 in league play. The Redhawks earned two victories over top-10 ranked Washington as well as wins over Washington State, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, UC Davis, and Portland. Both Brian Olson and Landon Cray earned First Team All-WAC honors.

During their first year in the WAC, the Redhawks won 10 games, narrowly missing the playoffs and finished with a season total of 21 wins. Along with a victory over cross-town rival Washington, the Redhawks earned a win over the nationally-ranked Oregon Ducks. Senior shortstop Nate Roberts was named First Team All-WAC for the season, and Andrew Olson was honored as WAC Pitcher of the Week after throwing a 5-0 shutout over UT Arlington.

The Redhawks once again increased their season win total in 2012, finishing with 23 victories. Once again, Seattle U earned a victory at Washington, plus picked up an important win at Washington State. The Redhawks also took two of three at San Jose State, the first road series victory for the program since it was reestablished.

In 2011, Harrel led the Redhawks to a 21-30-1 record, doubling the win total from the previous season. Seattle U took two of three games from Notre Dame and split season series with Pac-10 schools Oregon State and Washington. The Redhawks also picked up victories over Super Regional participant Dallas Baptist, Portland, San Jose State, Sacramento State, and Nevada, among others.

Previous to coaching at Seattle U, Harrel was an assistant baseball coach at the University of Washington for four years. At the UW, Harrel was not only responsible for assisting in on-field coaching, but he also was responsible for the Huskies' schedule and assisted with travel issues, budgeting, and helping student-athletes through the admissions process. He also oversaw the team's academic performance and was named Academic Coach of the Quarter in Winter 2007 when the team broke a 14-year record for highest cumulative grade point average.

Before coming to Seattle, Harrel was an assistant coach at Oregon State during the 2003-04 season. His head coaching experience comes from seven seasons at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., where he compiled a 220-90 record and led the team to the NWAACC championship in 1999. Named NWAACC Southern Division Coach of the Year four times, he also led fundraising efforts to build a field, improve other facilities, buy equipment, and increase scholarship opportunities.

Donny and his wife Cam have two children, daughter Brooklyn and son Easton, and a dog, Wrigley.
