SEATTLE – (March 6) Seattle University baseball scored eight unanswered runs to clinch a come-from-behind, 8-3 win over crosstown rival Washington Tuesday night at Husky Ballpark.
The Huskies (6-5) scored three runs in the bottom of the first off of starter Brayden Weyer. The freshman was relieved by Austin Hansen midway through the first and four total Redhawks combined to shut out the Huskies the remainder of the game.
Dalton Hurd provided the big hit in the fourth, sending a three-run bomb over the left field fence to knot the score at 3-3.
Kyler Murphy knocked in the go-ahead runs with a two-run homer to right field in the seventh inning.
Seattle U tacked on three more runs in the ninth as Jake Cosgrove drove two in and Hurd added a fourth RBI to make it 8-3.
Tyler Oldenberg earned the win in relief for the Redhawks. The junior fanned three, walked one and scattered four hits while not allowing a run in 3.2 innings. Zach Wolf came in for the final 2.1 innings, earning his third save of the season.
The Redhawks return to action Friday, Mar. 9 through Sunday, Mar. 11, hosting UAlbany in a four-game series at Bannerwood Park. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
