SEATTLE – (Oct. 2) Seattle University women’s basketball opened official practice for the 2017-18 season on Monday at the Connolly Complex.

Coach Suzy Barcomb, entering her second season at Seattle U, oversaw a high-pace session as the Redhawks prepare for the new campaign. The team plays its regular-season opener on Nov. 10 against Idaho State.

Last season, Seattle U was picked to finish seventh in the WAC Preseason Coaches’ poll, but claimed second place in the regular season. It then advanced to the WAC Championship game and qualified for the WNIT for the first time since 2013. Barcomb returns Alexis Montgomery, a First Team All-WAC selection last year, along with Kamira Sanders, the reigning WAC Freshman of the Year. Barcomb and her staff have also brought in six newcomers-five freshmen and one transfer.
