ERIE, Colo. – (Sept. 26) Zack Overstreet and Joe Harvie each finished at four-under-par 212 to tie for 14th place overall and help Seattle U men's golf to a tie for 10th place overall finish at the Mark Simpson Invitational hosted by University of Colorado at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
Overstreet, the reigning WAC Freshman of the Year, shot an even-par 72 in the opening round on Monday. He stayed consistent over the final two rounds, shooting a par of two-under-par 70s to finish at four-under 212. The sophomore had six birdies in his final round Tuesday.
Harvie opened the tournament with a three-over 75, but rebounded to shoot the best round for a Redhawk - a four-under-par 68. The senior had seven birdies in the round. He would close out play Tuesday with a three-underpar 69.
Freshman Gabe Spach placed in a tie for 66 overall at six-over-par 222 (77-73-72). Sophomore Greg Gionfriddo tied for 71st overall at eight-over-par 224 (75-75-74) and freshman Nick Baker tied for 78th at nine-over-par 225 (77-72-76).
The Redhawks improved their team standing each round of play, finished at three-over-par 867, good for a three-way tie for 10th in the field of 20 teams.
Seattle U will be back in action Oct. 2-3 at the Nick Watney Invitational, hosted by Fresno State.
