SEATTLE (July 13) – Seattle University swimming has released its 2017-18 schedule. The Redhawks will have four home dates at the Connolly Complex this coming season.
Coach Craig Nisgor begins his seventh season at SU. Last year, he guided both the men and women to winning dual meet records for the first time in program history. Blaise Wittenauer-Lee was named WAC Female Swimmer of the Year and became the first Redhawk to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships.
“We always want to have the best schedule we can,” said Nisgor. “That way we can make sure our team is getting what it needs to be able to compete well at conference championships.”
In 2017-18, Seattle U opens the season with a home meet against Idaho on Oct. 14. The following weekend, SU heads to Los Angeles. Over two days, the Redhawk men will face Grand Canyon, while the women will take on GCU and Loyola Marymount, who will host the competition.
On Nov. 4, SU returns home for a dual with Simon Fraser. It then welcomes Oregon State’s women for a meet on Nov. 11. The Redhawks cap 2017 action with a trip to the Husky Invite in Federal Way on Dec. 1-3.
Seattle U travels to Pacific Lutheran on Jan. 5 before coming back to Connolly to host Whitworth the next day. That dual will mark senior day for the Redhawks.
The following weekend, SU will compete at Air Force, as the men face the Falcons and Incarnate Word, while the women will take on AFA, UIW, and Northern Colorado. The Redhawks close the regular season at Simon Fraser on Jan. 25.
The 2018 WAC Championships will be held in Houston, Texas on Feb. 21-24.
