SEATTLE – Seattle U women’s tennis posted one of their finest wins of the season over George Fox on Friday at the Amy Yee Tennis Center, ending the day with a score of 7-0 and bringing their record up to 5-6 for the spring.
None of the Redhawks allowed their singles opponents to win more than one game. Sophomore Hannah Gianan played true to form in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance, followed by freshman Alisa Sabotic’s 6-1, 6-1 victory. Fellow freshman Jillian Rasmussen posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her own, while junior Kali McCollister shined in a superb 6-0, 6-1 win. Finally, sophomore Kyra Jung (6-0, 6-1) and senior Lily-Ana Kreutzer (6-0, 6-0) earned the fifth and sixth points for Seattle U in two stellar matches.
Doubles play featured a complete sweep by the Redhawks – all three teams won with a score of 6-0. Head Coach Joey Barnes shook things up a bit with the pairings, as Gianan teamed up with Kreutzer, Jung played with Rasmussen, and McCollister and Sabotic formed the third duo.
“We played very solidly today,” said Coach Barnes. “We started strong with the different doubles lineup and were able to keep that going into our singles matches.”
Seattle U hopes to keep that streak going tomorrow, when they play Idaho at 12:30 PM at the Jupiter Tennis Center in Edgewood, Wash.
