DENVER – (March 12) Madison Cathcart of Seattle University softball has been chosen Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hitter of the Week, for the period ending March 11. The native of Longview, Wash., hit .500 in six games over the last week.

Cathcart led SU to three wins last week, including a dominant performance in the 2018 home opener. In a Tuesday doubleheader against Toledo, the sophomore reached base all seven times she came to the plate. In the nightcap, she homered twice, including a walk-off grand slam in a 7-4 win. She drove in six runs in the contest.

At the CSUN Tournament this weekend, Cathcart hit two more home runs, giving her a national-best 14 this year. The first baseman leads Division I in HRs, slugging percentage (1.164), and total bases (85) in 2018.

Cathcart also won WAC Hitter of the Week on Feb. 19.

Seattle U has a 14-12 record this season. It welcomes Portland State and Bryant for the Seattle U Invitational this weekend.
