BELLEVUE, Wash. - (May 18) Jake Prizina tossed 7.2 innings of four-hit, one-run ball while his offense put up four early runs in a 4-1 Western Athletic Conference victory for Seattle U baseball over visiting Utah Valley Thursday at Bannerwood Park.

The junior lefty fanned five and walked just one, improving to 5-2 on the season and helping the Redhawks move to 19-31-1 overall and 8-14 in WAC play. UVU dropped to 16-34 overall and 9-13 in the WAC.

Utah Valley starter Jackson Cofer opened the bottom of the first by issuing three straight walks to the Redhawks to load the bases for Sean Sutton. The cleanup batter sent a ball deep to left where Justin Erlandson dropped the would-be fly out, allowing Sutton to reach and both Aaron Stroosma and Austin Lively to score.

The Redhawks would score an unearned run in the second, taking advantage of a fielding error by UVU third baseman Paul Estrada. Stroosma, who reached on a double to left, would score as Lively reached on the error.

Seattle U made it 4-0 in the third on a Curtis Perrin RBI-single to center that scored Sutton.

Despite his early walks, Cofer (3-7) finished allowing just four hits and two earned runs in his 7.2 innings.

The teams combined for just eight hits - four each. Stroosma went a perfect 3-for-3 for Seattle U. The Wolverines' lone run came on a solo homer in the fifth by Estrada.

Janson Junk earned his first save of the season after tossing a scoreless 1.1 innings.

The series continues Friday at 5 p.m. at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks will honor their senior class of Griffin Andreychuk, Connor Moore, Aaron Stroosma and Nelson Taylor at 4:30 p.m.
