PHOENIX - (May 6) Seattle University baseball dropped the second game of a three-game Western Athletic Conference series at Grand Canyon Saturday by a count of 19-0. The league's run rule went into effect and the game was final after seven innings.
The Redhawks' bats could not figure out GCU starter Jake Repavich as the battery managed just five hits.
Grand Canyon's offense, meanwhile, used three big innings to run away with the ballgame. The Lopes (23-22, 17-3 WAC) scored five runs in the first, 10 in the fourth and four in the sixth.
Seattle U (16-27-1, 6-11 WAC) starter Janson Junk (5-6) took the loss after giving up seven hits and three walks for five runs.
Five difference Redhawks had one hit apiece, including Griffin Andreychuk who recorded career-hit 206 and now sits just six shy of the SU all-time record.
The teams return to Brazell Stadium for the series' rubber match. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
