SEATTLE – Seattle University women’s soccer will head to fourth-seeded Washington for the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Game details will be available this week.

Seattle U earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with its thrilling 2-1 overtime win against Utah Valley in the WAC Tournament Championship on Sunday. Senior Jessie Ray scored in the 99th minute to lift SU to its fifth WAC Tournament crown and its second straight. Ray won Tournament MVP, while Lauren Brown, Leahi Manthei, and Holly Rothering were picked to the all-tournament team.

On Aug. 26, the Redhawks played a 0-0 tie at UW. Madison Waguespack made three saves, including a stop on a penalty kick in the second half.

SU has now won five WAC Tournament titles, five WAC regular-season crowns, and will make its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013. Ray and fellow senior Kelsey Vogel will become the third and fourth Redhawks to appear in three different NCAA Tournaments in program history, joining Isabelle Butterfield and Natasha Howe.
